Where can i get free wedding material?

February 28, 2010 - 5:51 am 4 Comments

I am 24 I am getting married next year I was wondering does anyone no where I can get any wedding planning stuff! You know like wedding guide books, wedding planner books free anyone help please!

theknot.com, weddingwire.com, the Martha Stewart wedding website, snippetandink.blogspot.com, offbeatbride.com and indiebride.com are very good free websites that are quite helpful with wedding planning.

I didn’t need any magazines or planning books during my engagement. The magazines are basically just advertisements for wedding gowns and useless products. You can easily use a regular binder or a small notebook for keeping track of your lists and plans. Don’t waste your money on these things .. rely on the free websites and use a binder/notebook and a folder to make notes and hold onto your contracts and receipts.

Origami Wedding Decorations?

February 20, 2010 - 9:16 am 4 Comments

I’m hoping to get started on wedding decorations for my wedding. (it’s over 2 years away, so I have lots of time.) My wedding colors are going to be silver and green. I’m planning on making 1000 green cranes and 1000 silver cranes. Does anyone else have any more ideas of what I could have as decorations? Links to guides would be wonderful!

(Also, I make paper cranes as a hobby and have made over 2500 in the last year, so time and amount are no problem.)

Hi.

Maybe you can try different origami patterns / models for decorating the reception hall or the pews, etc Like flowers, pretty floral kusudamas, etc

You will be able to find many ideas and instruction videos at any of these sites:

http://origamiancy.com/

http://www.happyfolding.com

I have been hooked onto Origami for more than a year now, and have folded most kinds of origami models, from Kusudamas to modular pieces, to animals, birds and butterflies.

Kusudamas are pretty ornamental things which can be used as a hanging decoration

Where do you go to look for…?

February 18, 2010 - 12:11 pm 4 Comments

Where do you go to look for your wedding package or crew?
E.g.: for the videographer, photographer, place where to have the ceremony, the flowers, limos, and soooo on….

I’ve looked online, but honestly I’ve found mostly crap. Do you know any specific site that you could recommend me? also, do you use the yellow pages? any specific wedding guide?…. any other source???

Btw, the wedding is going to be in South Florida… just in case you know something even more specific for this area.

Also, if you know of a place you could recommend me to have my sister’s wedding at, I would truly appreciate it. Anything works, now that we’ve just began planning everything and we still haven’t decided the style of the wedding…. same thing with photographers, videographers, flower people, etc.

Thanks a lot!!!!
I truly appreciate all of the help you could give me.
~*~

I used several different resources when planning my wedding. First, I looked in the yellow pages. You can also use a website called TheKnot. There are specific message boards and sections of the website for different regions of your state.
Another helpful thing that most people don’t think of- ask your friends and family if they know people. You would be surprised how many people are knowledgeable about these kinds of things.

Lastly, on the site for the wedding, don’t limit yourself to a specific kind of place- like halls or country clubs. You can have a beautiful, unique wedding at places like museums or clubs.

Good luck!

What is a wedding Officiant? How much do they generally charge to come to do it?

February 14, 2010 - 1:41 pm 2 Comments

I am in the begining stages of planning a super cheap. low key wedding. I have a whole year to do this great feat! I feel like i am in over my head… I have no family to guide me through and dont want the opinions of my better halfs family! LOL! So i need help Yahoo answers! What does an officiant really do… How much do they generally charge.. will they come to whatever location you chose… Do they leave afterward… Do they do any of the paperwork or is that all done at a court house.. Any advice from someone who has gone this route. Also any other advice on the best way to find one of these people? And how soon do i book him/her? Thanks to all whom answer!

THe wedding officiant is the person who performs your ceremony. He has to be certified to marry someone in your state. They shouldn’t charge more then 200-250. THey will normally come to wherever your cermony is being held. If you are having it in a church, most churches already have the officiant (priest, minister, deacon, etc.) so ask them. You will have to get the paperwork and then you will have to file it. Sometimes the officiant will file it, but I would definitely follow up on it if he does. You an find them at your church as previously mentioned, google wedding officiants/ whatever state your in, or you can look in the phone book under weddings. If you are having the ceremony at the same place as your reception, sometimes they will be able to provide you with officiant referrals. If you really want to be different, you can always have a family member or friend ordained on line and then they can marry you. Also, judges can marry you. As far as when to book them, you can do that whenever you want. I’m getting married 04/11 and I booked mine two weeks ago.
Good Luck!
