No matter what kind of wedding- couples would want to have, the primary thing they should achieve is setting up their budget. Couples know what they like and create weddings to their own tastes and necessities. As couples often wait longer and live together, many of the engaged couples pay for the wedding themselves. There are also cases in which the couple’s parents each have their own shares in the wedding finances. What is consistent is that the budget defines the parameters of a wedding, from location to reception menu. The grandest rule: Set your budget and stick to it.

I got engaged earlier last month…I’m trying to plan a wedding without all of the "required" information.
~We cannot decide on exact date because he’s in the military and doesn’t know if or when he’s getting deployed because he’s on his way to a new assignment. (We’re hoping for sometime between March and May.)
~We haven’t decided on a location because his family lives in Delaware, mine lives in Arizona and I live in Florida.
~We can’t decide on a guest list until we figure out where the wedding is going to be.
~And let’s not forget the budget…We have a vague idea of what we want but we have NO idea what it’s going to cost us or how to find out.
I’ve signed up for accounts with brides.com and theknot.com and both of them say if I’m planning to get married within the next year I need to start planning NOW! The only price estimates I have seen them use is the $-$$$$$ system. What is one $ or $$$$$equal to?
Without knowing anything….where do I start?
Its ok. Calm down. My family is in AZ his is in UT, they are from Baton Rouge in Louisiana. He is in the military and we both live in Texas. I have one set of grandparents here and all of our friends are out of town in other states. Plan on getting married where the both of you live and have others commute. We have too many friends and family in too many parts of the world.
Its easier to plan on getting married where voth of you live and it will keep your guest list smaller because everyone will not be able to commute. Smaller guest list = smaller expense.
So the date? Well what does he do? My brother is a Navigation Instructor at Hurlbert Field in FL and his deployments are on rotations. His commander should have an idea. And if you set a date and he tells his commander and is deployed he WILL BE FLOWN BACK for the wedding. I am a military wife. We went and got married privately and secretly before the wedding. The wedding is not until March but the military is kind enough to send your fiance back.
So set a date, between March and May? If you get married in Florida dont plan on March or beginning of April. Spring Breakers will drive the rates through the roof on hotels. In may stay away from Memorial Day Weekend Florida is a tourist trap. A good time would be around the third week in April or the second week in May. If you have friends in school it would conflict with final exam times to have it the first of May end of April. The weather is nice and you wont have the competition of June brides when the rates go through the roof.
I am a great planner and if you have any questions or want any help please feel free to email me. Congratulations and welcome to being a Military wife. It will be ok.
$ Inexpensive
$$ Affordably Priced
$$$ Moderately Priced
$$$$ Expensive
Depends on what you are looking for. A dress $ less than 1000 $$$$ More than 5,000
Those signs are based on the AVERAGE prices of things.

Hall problems, dress problems, guest list problems. ugh! Does anyone else feel like this? What do you do to de-stress?
HELL. YES. lol
I destress on weekends, when I finally get to see my fiance, we buy a couple of bottles of wine, start going through everything that is stressing me/us… by the time those two bottles are done, we’ve actually come up with some great plans/solutions, and are loaded enough to be laughing our butts off at the whole thing.
This is an exciting time, and although sometimes it’s hard, you’ve got to just keep your cool. Everything will come together. Smile, you’re getting married!!!
I never planned a wedding or been in a wedding, but I’ve attended some. I am kind of confused on how this whole thing works. I don’t know what to do first and my wedding is set for July 2009. Am I suppose to talk to a pastor first or prepare guest list first I don’t know what to do. I s their any body that can help me?
Usually it’s first, so a date can be set. Then you figure out your budget – then go on with booking venue, caterer, band, etc.
HerWeddingPlanner.com is really excited about the upcoming release of Bride Wars.

These two best friends that would do anything for each other find themselves in a take no prisoners situation that threatens to crupt into an all out war.
Bride Wars is coming to threatres January 9th, 2009. We cant wait to see this movie and believe that it will be the wedding movie of 2009.

Me and my best friend have a guilty pleasure of watching wedding shows such as Whose Wedding Is it Anyway. Well to make a long story short. My best friend is 18 and single, and she is already planning her wedding. She has a list of everything she wants. She thinks she is crazy, for doing it. I personally think it isn’t a problem because it gives her tons of time to save for it since she knows what she wants, plus she just has a SUPER head start. So I was wondering who thinks she is crazy for planning a wedding to umm noone?? Or do you think she is smart for starting now??
LOL, I did that when I was 17. It was actually for a class in high school – we had to do a 9-week term of research on a particular subject, one that involved getting information from regular people and not just from books, so I decided to plan my dream wedding. I made scrapbooks and swatch boards and table maps and all kinds of stuff, and I hadn’t even had my first serious boyfriend yet!
I met the guy who eventually became my husband in my sophomore year of college, and when we actually decided to get married a couple of years later, I pulled out my old wedding planning stuff and found that ALL my tastes had changed. I had been so sure about everything I’d wanted, but I grew up so much in those few years that nothing I wanted held true anymore.
She can do all this planning if she wants, but she needs to be aware that by the time she does get married that all her hard work may go to waste, and to not be too disappointed. Also, she needs to remember that it’s not going to be just *HER* wedding in the end.
