How can I get my fiancé more involved in the wedding planning process? ?

February 4, 2010 - 3:05 pm 2 Comments

He’s getting frustrated with me "nagging" him about ideas. Is it just him being a man? Our wedding is scheduled for May 2010 and he think it’s waaaay too early to be planning. Let me not mention our barely there budget! We needed to start planning LAST YEAR!!! Any suggestions?
Let me clarify some things:
The only thing I’m concerned about at this point is the ceremony and reception venue and how we can save money in those areas(those are the only things I really need his input on right now)

And second (this is for the commented who asked if I’m nuts): FIRST OF ALL NO IM NOT! AND IF YOU READ CORRECTLY, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WE’RE NOT AT OUR FINANCIAL BEST AND FOR US, THE EARLIER WE START THE BETTER! <READ THEN RE-READ =)

*Also I would never bore him with the colors and flowers portion, he already put that in my hands.

You’re not nuts, you’re smart. I’m not even engaged yet and I’m planning my whole wedding (as much as I can save the actual booking and whatnot) because I want to enjoy my engagement.

I think you should put it in perspective. Most men understand that the wedding is their soon to be wife’s day. Just hand him a piece of paper and say "look, this is all you have to do" (this should include typical groom stuff such as telling his men to get tuxes, picking out groomsmen, a best man, getting groomsmen gifts, and booking the honeymoon and the groom’s cake). Give him a few months to do the "man" stuff.

Do the bride stuff and ask what he likes and doesn’t like. Give him about 4 months on this. All the while save. In 4 months, set a date, see where you’ve come. Ask him what he thinks about the colors you picked out and blah blah blah and tell him what you think of the honeymoon. If he’s surprising you let him.

What would be a good name for my wedding planning business?

February 2, 2010 - 3:43 am 2 Comments

My name is Brittany, I am starting a bridal consultant/wedding planning/party planning business and I really need help coming up with a fun name. But I am drawing a blank. Any suggestions?

How about "I do weddings" or "Bride’s Delight"?

Best of luck with your new business!

If you don’t mind another suggestion, you might want to think about starting a blog or a website to help advertise your business.

In fact, since you’re just starting out, I’ll just give you a free wedding articles site to help you get started.

If you decide to use it, I hope you’ll visit my site before you purchase your domain and hosting. My company offers the cheapest .com domain price on the internet right now, and hosting for as little as $4.95 per month.

The first site link below will take you to the page to download your free wedding site (you’re welcome to download any of the free software I have there that you like)

The second link will take you to my hosting company.

Best of luck on your new business!

What is one thing you learned about planning a wedding?

January 24, 2010 - 7:35 am 18 Comments

While planning your wedding, what did you discover was a myth? We have so many ideas about weddings and how they should go, but many people find out things they didn’t know about wedding planning.

Thanks! :)

That the details matter the most. Biggest myth of all time. Don’t kill yourself over silly things like invitations, ceremony programs, ribbon, linens, etc…

On my wedding day, I didn’t even notice most of the details. I did notice the flowers…and that was about it.

Maybe other people, like guests, noticed the smaller details, but I didn’t.

FRIENDS: Beginning journey of Rach & Gus’ wedding planning…

January 17, 2010 - 6:51 am 5 Comments

So my friends Rachael & Gus are getting married on 1/1/2011.
*I really did think their wedding date was 1/11/2011.

They’ve asked both Lonny & I to be in their wedding. I get to walk down the isle with Lonny, awww.

I thought I would document their wedding planning journey. So every once in awhile you might see a new video of what’s been going on.

I hope you enjoy. It’s a little different to my channel, but then again I did say my channel will be very random. :)

What are the wedding planning steps?

January 13, 2010 - 1:43 am 4 Comments

I have to save one thousand more dollars and then my fiance and I will have 4 thousand dollars to spend on a wedding. We are still going to save though so we can pay for other things as we go. I want to get married sometime next year.

What is a good timeline for wedding planning? What are the steps? Thanks!

What is the best and most efficient online Wedding planning program? How do i know that this course is better?

January 10, 2010 - 12:12 am 2 Comments

I’m comparing between 3 online programs:
1. Sheffield School Wedding & Event Planning course
2. The Institute of Professional Wedding Planners
3. Association of Bridal Consultants program

Please help on which one to choose and explain why this would be the best program to choose.

There are no "efficient" online courses for Wedding Planning.

The entire idea is a farce for romantic girls who are poorly advised. Very few people can make a living in this field.

Consider a course in Welding instead.
