Would you care how old your wedding planner is?

I’m 19 now and starting the event and wedding planning course at the local university, and I just wanted to know if how old your wedding planner is matters (if you use one) or if you’d just go by how professional they are and if they have the qualifications?
I do have some experiance, planned my first wedding at the age of 15, my cousin was to busy with work so she handed it over to me, I did everything for her, from picking up a tux for her groom, to making sure the cake got to the reception area and I’ve helped brides plan two other weddings since then

Well, to be completely honest, I would want to make sure that my wedding planner was mature enough to handle all of the issues that might come up. I would need someone assertive enough to be able to handle vendors and make negotiations.

It really depends on you and the type of weddings you will be coordinating. You may be able to coordinate some lower budget weddings at first just to get some professional references and to get your name out there. If you have the qualifications, go for it.

I’m a young bride (22) and I am unconventional and would not have a problem with your age. But more traditional people might.

But, it’s all good because you won’t be 19 forever and you are working towards what you want to do.

Serious Advice for wedding planning?

I am in the process of planning a wedding that will happen on August 18th, 2007. I have the place and some details sketched out. Of course there are books upon books on this subject- but for those of you who have planned a wedding before or are wedding planners what are some practical things I might not find in a book?
Ps. I have the dress, location, caterer, colors, and of course Fiancee’. I am not letting my family determine the wedding plans. It is a medium wedding including 250 invited guests.
Thank you all so much for your advice. As I said I have a lot of things sketched out, (i.e. details of the ceremony, transportation ect.)I’m mostly looking for advice on how to avoide some little known catasrophe’s on the day…like the running shoes under the dress:)
I just wanted to comment one more time on your answers everyone! Thank you again so much however I know websites and places to go for information. I have books upon books and a planner. I have all the details- what I don’t have is practicle advice only learned from experience. I want to know things that I will NOT find in a book or website- something that happened at your wedding or someone elses. Tips like having extra glasses- I really do enjoy all of the feedback but I what needs to be planned…I just wanted some insights to things that I would find anywhere else.:) Thanks!

Well, my glasses broke the morning of our wedding. I advise everyone with corrective lenses to have a backup – extra glasses or contacts. There was no way to get mine fixed that day, and I had no backup. I went through the day kinda blind, and it was nuts.
