How do I get everything ready? What is the first thing I should do? I already have the guest list, I am having a garden wedding and know where I want it to be (suburb wise). Whats next?
Find a venue and a person to officiate the marriage.

The best advise I can give you is to work up a budget for the day and then enlist the help of your local wedding planner. They know exactly what needs to be done at what stage, and more importantly, they take alot of the stress away which will allow you to enjoy both the planning process as well as the actual day alot more.
Best of luck with the planning!

You need to book the venue for the ceremony, the venue for the reception (including the meal), the photographer, the cake, the music (CDs or live band), the cars, the flowers,
Choose the invitations.
Choose your bridesmaids, their dresses, YOUR dress. And a thousand other little details. It will all come together. It’s stressful but it’s fun.

Well first thing to do is decide when you want to get married. Then think of what kind of wedding you want : big, small, traditional, modern, romantic, fun? Once you know that, look for venues that correspond to your needs. Check if the church/ court house is also available on the same day and book them. That would be the first thing to do, as many places get completely booked off long in advance. Also look for your dress straight away. Once you’ve found the dress you’lll need to order it and most places take up to 6 months to have it ready.
Then you can move on to the details of decoration, birdesmaid dresses, hair and make-up, etc…
Here is a checklist of things to do with approximate dates. Don’t panic when seeing how long it is, it won’t all apply to you and they’re generous with the dates, so you can probably take less time than what it states on some things

First pick your date, then work on a budget, work on your guest list, then pick out your colors. Here are some sites that have time lines of what needs to be done and roughly when to do them and here are some other helpful sites.

Hi Jane & congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!
First things first. You might want to consider looking at some Wedding planning software to make sure that you don’t miss anything. You’ll find a 25% off coupon for a great wedding planning software at http://www.planningAWeddingGuide.com. I’ve recommended this particular to many people who LOVE it. (I’ve got over 20 years of experience in the wedding/event planning software.)
This will help you put together a timeline, manage your invitation lists, your gift lists and everything in between.
You didn’t mention when your wedding will be or what your timeline is, so depending on how long you have to work on your wedding will determine your sense of urgency on each item.
You could work with a wedding planner, especially if you are working with a short time frame. If you still have a lot of time to work with, you could do everything yourself, especially armed with a good wedding planning software.
Best Wishes!
Christine
